Sarah Larson

As a child I was constantly drawing, sewing, writing, and creating. That impulse continued in many directions over the years, as I explored printmaking, painting, fabric collage, set design, children's book writing and illustration, needle felting, and stained glass. I’m never sure what medium I’ll be doing next.

Most of my artwork tends to be about stories, memories, and moments from the past – images and ideas hanging around in my subconscious - it is my job to tease them out and shape them into something beautiful. Often the meaning of my work is only apparent to me after it is complete.

When I am creating, I feel like I’m in a completely different zone, where all that matters is my hands and eyes and heart working together. I feel very fortunate to be an art teacher, because I enjoy nurturing young people to discover their own joy in creating.
