New Addition to the Schedule!
Plein Air Painting
Instructor: James Wisnowski
AWS Signature artist James Wisnowski will be returning to the North Shore Art League to conduct a watercolor plein air workshop.
After painting for over 38 years, James believes that all studio artists must have the plein air experience to become a complete landscape artist. It gives the artist a chance to record nature in a moment of time and can often document a changing American landscape. Painting outdoors can be frustrating and intimidating when attempting to capture the ever-changing light and shadows, while also dealing with the elements of Mother Nature.
In this workshop, the artist will learn to draw from both right and left-brain, skills needed to quickly simplify the observed composition while in the field. Helpful sketchbook techniques will be shown for those who want to start a travel journal. James will demonstrate each day. The workshop will be plein air (outdoors), weather permitting. The painting locations and recommended supply list will be sent to you after registration. All levels welcome!
When: August 11, 12 & 13
Time: Fri & Sun - 9:00 AM-3:30 PM
Sat – 12:30-3:30 PM
Since graduating the American Academy of Art, James Wisnowski has become a signature member of the American Watercolor Society, and the Transparent Watercolor Society of America. In addition, he is a member of the Oil Painter's of America, California Art Club, Laguna Plein Air Painter's of America, Chicago Artists Coalition, and the Palette and Chisel Fine Art Arts Academy. For thirty-six years, he has taught his technique in weekly classes at the Palette and Chisel Fine Art Academy in Chicago, the Old Town Art Center in Chicago, the North Shore Art League, Winnetka, IL and, presently, at the Palos Verdes Art Center, CA. Additionally, Wisnowski leads workshops in inspirational locations throughout Europe and the USA.
