Image to Abstract III - Three Day Workshop!
Mark Daniel Nelson
This workshop is for the painter ready to push his or her work beyond the point of recognizable subject matter into the realm of pure abstraction. Students will start with traditional representational approaches and move through progressively more abstract techniques until arriving at purely non-objective paintings. Special attention will be paid to the elements of composition as they apply to abstract painting. Through a combination of slideshows, discussions, assignments and critiques, this workshop will expose students to new artistic possibilities for self-expression. Students should bring their own reference photos and also plan to take photos during the workshop. Printed photos and/or digital images on laptop/iPad may be used for reference. Photo editing software is also helpful but not required. Students will have the option to paint from a still life set up. A payment of $250 will hold your space in this workshop. Remainder of tuition due 9/1. Limited to 14 students!
When: November 8, 9, & 10, 2019
Time: 9am - 4pm
