MONDAY


Drawing to Painting (8-11 years)
Instructor: Lyndsay Murphree

This class will help your artists develop drawing skills. Perspective, composition, shapes and shadows all come into play before you put paint on canvas. Artists will move into painting with that fundamental knowledge and learn color mixing and basic techniques to create their own paintings!

Create with Clay for Kids (8-12 years)
Instructor: Jill Hurwitz

Playing with clay is a particularly valuable activity for kids due to the involvement of working with your hands and the dexterity it takes to form an object out of a lump of wet clay!  Using hand-building techniques, this class will give students the chance to experience the tactile properties of clay – while creating their own pieces in a supportive and safe space. New demonstrations every week.

Painting & Drawing (10-14 years)                                                        
Instructor: Jill Hurwitz

Paint and draw people, animals, landscapes, and still life objects, while learning to employ the principles of composition and color. In this class, students will learn the process of planning, developing, and executing artwork. We will use acrylics, watercolor, color pencils, pastels, and charcoal. Students will develop their creativity and advance in their knowledge of different mediums.

Mixed Media Mania! (5-8 years) NEW!
Instructor: Ellen Gradman

Hands-on activities encourage kids to be creative thinkers! Get ready to experiment, explore, play, create and get messy – with an artist/teacher to guide you!! Techniques in painting, collage, printing, assemblage, book-making and more will be presented. Each technique will build upon each other and students will be encouraged to find their own voice.

Pop-Up Art Studio (6-9 years)

Using a variety of materials, young artists work on projects that encourage children to use their imagination as they draw, paint, sculpt, and make prints, collages and more. Each week students will create a project inspired by a different artist.

SUMMER 2021 ART CAMP 


We are so excited to offer our fun summer art camps again this year! Our fabulous children’s art faculty is gearing up and planning creative projects exploring many varied mediums! Campers will experience the solid traditional mediums of drawing and painting, as well as learning new techniques and being exposed to new art skills. New projects each day – no repeats!

We welcome our excellent summer art faculty - all professional art educators to give your child a great art camp experience!

Each week of camp runs Monday through Friday, except where noted. All camps will be held in our professional, well-appointed art studio on the second floor of the Winnetka Community House.  Social distancing will be adhered to and masks are required. At times, we will venture out onto the lawn to draw or paint.

Camps for ages 5-8 will meet weeks of: 6/21, 6/28, 7/6(4 days) and 7/12


ART DISCOVERY CAMP Ages 5-8 years old
Time: 9:00-11:00am
Campers will produce fun projects that will uncover their creativity and imagination. Using a wide variety of materials, projects will include painting, ink prints, fabric media, drawing, clay, watercolor, sculpture and much, much more.
Cost includes all materials and unlimited fun!

ART ADVENTURE CAMP Ages 7-12 years old
Time: 9:00-11:00am

Campers will work with a variety of media and processes including painting, drawing, printing, clay and more. Create independent original artwork in a fun supportive group environment.

Drawing Techniques for Kids (8 - 12, 3rd - 6th grade)

This class will introduce you to the fundamentals of observational drawing. We will work to create realistic artworks through proportion, perspective, and shading. You will then have time to turn your favorite drawing into a finished painting. For all kids who want to kick-start their drawing skills!
