MONDAY

Fun & Artistic Jewelry Making (3rd-5th grade)

Laurey Fisher
Come have fun making necklaces, pins, bracelets and earrings-even a jeweled box for your new treasures! We will be using beads, paper, jewels, clay, fimo and charms to explore and experiment with creative jewelry making. Music and healthy snacks, too!!

Intermediate Painting (5th-8th grade)

Victoria Nelson
A fun and nurturing atmosphere for students who have had some previous experience in drawing or painting. Using acrylic paint, students will experiment and learn how to plan, develop and create a finished piece. Students will start with sketching and advance to painting.

WEDNESDAY

Art FUNdamentals (3rd-5th grade)

Nancy Behles
Color, line, texture, form and repetition–these are the basic concepts on which all art is based. Students will learn to identify and manipulate these principles while creating beautiful compositions in a variety of media.

Fashion Illustration (6th-12th grade)

Christina Lovering
Put your fashion design ideas on paper with this course!  In this class you will learn how to accurately draw the figure as well as how to render fabric on the figure. You will work on developing illustration skills and then move into creating a personal style in both clothing design as well as drawing style.

Art Sprouts (Jr. & Sr. Kindergarten)

In an atmosphere that promotes creativity, young artists will work on original projects. Each class features a new art technique as they gain confidence with various materials-includes skill development in drawing, painting, sculpture and making ink prints.

Art Abounds (1st & 2nd grade)

Using a variety of materials, young artists work on projects that encourage children to use their imagination while learning about color, textures, paint skills and the use of materials. Each class features a new art adventure as they draw, paint, sculpt, and make prints, collages and more.

SATURDAY

Clay Animation & Cartoons (3rd-7th grade)

Patrick Waldron
Working with an expert instructor, students begin by making a short detailed storyboard of their film. Then, step by step; students make characters, props and sets using plasticine clay, Sculpy, cardboard, markers, paint or other media. Video production begins as early as the first day and continues throughout the term. Sound, music and special effects (lasers, words, explosions, and lip-syncing) are added during editing. This class is a must for any movie-minded child.

SUMMER ART CAMP

Put on your smock! Prepare your imagination! Explore your creativity! Get ready to experiment and make original art at ART CAMP! This summer, the North Shore Art League is continuing to support the development of creative minds on the North Shore through our expanded Art Camp, including Morning Art Discovery Camp for 5-7 year olds, and Afternoon Art Adventure Camp for 8-11 year olds. The North Shore Art League Camp curriculum is designed to foster an appreciation of the fine arts, an awareness of traditional and contemporary art practices, an exploration of artist’s materials and techniques. The program encourages self expression, media experimentation, and artistic skill development in a caring, supportive environment. Our teachers are all experienced instructors and accomplished artists.

Morning Art Discovery Camp

For artists 5-7 years old


North Shore Art League instructor Victoria Nelson will lead young campers as they create fun projects based on various artists and art movements throughout history! Students will work on various projects while learning about significant contributions of artists and major art movements. The artists covered will range from Impressionists to contemporary artists. Campers will experiment with paint, ink prints, fabric, drawing, sculpture, and more! 

 

Afternoon Art Adventure Camp
1:00-3:30pm
For artists 8-11 years old


Young artists will learn many techniques and applications that will benefit their art making and their creative thought processes. Campers will work with different teachers each day, using various processes and materials, including clay, animation, painting, drawing, book making, ink prints, cartooning, and more. Students will create independent original artwork in a supportive group environment.

Register your child for one week, two weeks, or any combination of the seven weeks of ART CAMP. Projects will vary each week so students can enjoy every session without duplicating projects. Costs include all materials, a healthy snack, and unlimited fun!
